Field Tomatoes
Planted: Early May
Planted in early May
Available by the August long weekend until the first frost in the fall.
TIPS:
NEVER store tomatoes in your fridge! Their preferred storage temperature is about 55ºF (or between 10 to 15 ºC).
For fresh tomato taste in the winter, freeze them in the fall – it’s easier than canning. Select ripe, firm tomatoes free from decay. Wash them, seal in a zip lock bag, and put in your freezer. Next winter, take out what you need, rinse under water and remove the skins, and presto! Fresh tomatoes for soups, sauces, or any other creations.
