Planted in early May
Available mid July until the first frost in the fall
TIPS:
1. NEVER store these in the fridge. Their
preferred storage temperature is about 55ºF (or between
10 to 15 ºC).
2. They’re great for salads or for
canning. Canning romas should be purchased ripe. Romas are
not as juicy as field tomatoes – these varieties have
more pulp on the inside.
3. These can be frozen the same way as
field tomatoes: select ripe, firm tomatoes free from decay.
Wash them, seal in a zip lock bag, and put in your freezer.
Next winter, take out what you need, rinse under water and
remove the skins, and presto! Fresh tomatoes for soups, sauces,
or any other creations
